The One Lovely Blog Award

I’m sorry that this post isn’t a poem, but I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Gabriel to Earth and I think it’s only fair to participate. So, first of all thank you Gabriel for the nomination and for the kind comments about my blog.

I must follow these rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  •  Add the One Lovely Blog logo to your post.
  • Share 7 facts/or things about yourself.
  • Nominate about 15 bloggers you admire and inform nominees by commenting on their blog.

Seven things about me:

  1. I am currently in college working towards a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education.
  2. I am the oldest of five children. There are sixteen years between me and my youngest brother.
  3. My best writing ideas come to me when I have nothing to write them down on.
  4. I have eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch almost everyday for the past eight years.
  5. I love photography. My high school had one of the best dark rooms in my county and I seriously miss working in it.
  6. The last book I read was William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying.
  7. My two biggest fears are riding on escalators and dead fish.

I started this blog just a few weeks ago, so I don’t know enough bloggers to nominate 15. I do know a few who definitely deserve a nomination for their admirable writing and insightful comments.

Crumpled Paper Cranes was one of my first followers and comment posters. Her writing is unlike anything I have seen on any other blog, simple, profound, and beautiful.

Sara Sally Davis for her powerful and sometimes provocative poems, as well as her kind comments.

The Big House and Other Stories for his incredible poetry and prose, and his insightful and encouraging comments.

ohellino because the writing here is so self-aware and entertaining.

The Migraine Chronicles because even though much of the poetry here is about love, it manages to be incredibly powerful and avoid the usual tropes .

This was fun to do and it always feels good to share how much I enjoy some other bloggers’ sites.

    1. I don’t think so. All you have to do is make a post that has the picture of the award and answers the questions. You can do it whenever you’d like I think.

      1. thanks … i think it’s to my advantage to follow through with these kinds of things … have you read any of my recent posts … the last four or five are beautiful … i must say … .. i haven’t read you i a while … i’m looking forward … and i discovered some comments you made that got past me … comments about teaching … which were positive and i’m glad they gave you a breath of fresh air … i hope you aren’t teaching junior or even senior high … it’s so different .teaching in public schools .. it’d be good to teach in private or even charter school … if it’s a good one… elementary school is wonderful … well .. it used to be … anyway … third grade … 8 year old brains … is the best grade i think .. i was a really great third grade teacher … we spent a lot of time writing … then i had to go back to grad school to take classes for certification … and i got sick of school … i had an opportunity to do something but fate stepped in and it didn’t happen .. so i hitch hiked to florida in the dead of winter … started a new life …. i told the story in an early post titled The Crossroad … you might find it interesting … about guy who made all the wrong choices had that run on with fate that within a span of ten seconds could have changed his life forever … from bad to good … but within that ten second span of time something happened that changed his life forever … you’ll like it … as far as the pied piper goes … the ominousness of that image … you are right .. and i hated to use that image but … i couldn’t think of any other character or situation that could have been an alternative … Pan ?? but people around town did say i looked like the pied piper .. one of my students wrote that i was the ”good pied piper” … she city manager for the town i lived in growing up … i was her favorite teacher of all time … hey, i gotta blow my horn a little ,,, anyway i wish i contained within me the amazing amount of reading you have stored away in your brain … you changed your picture … i like it .. take care and thanks for the kind words … when you nominated me …. please check out my last five posts .. kind of rude to press it but … i’m particularly proud of them … they’re not long … i love to talk about teaching … . everybody wants change but …. change to what? take care … ks

      2. Thank you, I will take a look at your posts. I had to start a blog on here for one of my classes, so I changed my picture so I’d be more recognizable. I’m planning on teaching elementary school, I’d like to do 2nd or 3rd grade, although my field experience is going to be in a 6th grade classroom this semester so that should be interesting. I haven’t been on here much recently, I’ve been busy with a lot of personal stuff.
